I Think By Now . . .

This little munchkin is my favorite little girl in the world, as I probably tell her too often. She's spunky and smart and definitely not a people-pleaser. By that I mean she's not afraid to tell it how it is, and she'll make a great lawyer or CEO or dictator or mother some day.

Todd has been driving Grey to school in the mornings, so on the days she and Hayes go to preschool I have just the two of them in the car. We take a back road past Owl's Hill Nature Center to avoid the traffic on the way. It's a two-lane, winding, gravel road with lots of little dips and rises, and the whole way there she hoots and hollers, "This is the best day ever!" She has a beautiful little spirit that is passionate and excited about everything.

She's also very stubborn. A couple days ago she did something in the car to offend her brother. I think she whacked him on the head, but I can't really remember. I had thought ahead and brought some treats with me for carpool pickup, and I was asking her to apologize before she could have her treat. She refused. After about 15 minutes of back-and-forth on it, I told her, "Honey, I think by now you understand that you aren't going to get your treat if you don't apologize." She instantly replied, "And I think by now you've figured out I'm not going to apologize, so just give me my treat." I couldn't help but laugh out loud (and not give her the treat).
